Sealing helps protect interlock and paving stones from moisture, salt, stains, fading and general wear. It can also enhance their colour, stabilize the polymeric sand and make the surface easier to maintain.

Our process includes pressure washing, removing deteriorated polymeric sand, allowing the surface to dry, installing and activating new polymeric sand, allowing the sand to cure and professionally applying two coats of sealer of your choice.

Interlock and pavers generally require resealing every two to five years. The exact timing depends on the sealer, traffic, weather exposure, surface preparation and previous maintenance.

Loose, contaminated and deteriorated polymeric sand should be removed so the new sand can properly fill the joints between the pavers. The required depth depends on the condition of the existing joints.

Polymeric sand helps stabilize the pavers, support the joints and reduce weed growth and insect activity. It also helps limit sand loss caused by rain and routine cleaning.

The surface must dry thoroughly before polymeric sand and sealer are applied. Drying time depends on temperature, humidity, shade and recent weather. Additional drying time may be required in cool or humid conditions.

The curing period depends on the polymeric sand manufacturer and weather conditions. We follow the product requirements and do not seal the interlock or pavers until the sand and surface are ready.

We professionally apply two coats of sealer. One team member sprays the product while another follows with a roller. This spray-and-back-roll method promotes even coverage and helps work the sealer into the paver surface and joints.

You can choose from three finishes:Matte: a natural appearance with minimal shineSemi-gloss: a subtle sheen with enhanced colourHigh-gloss: a rich wet look with maximum shineThe final appearance may vary depending on the type, colour and condition of the pavers.

Glossy sealed surfaces may become slippery when wet or icy. A traction-enhancing additive (Seal Grip) may be used to help.

In many cases, professional cleaning, new polymeric sand and a colour-enhancing sealer can significantly improve old or faded interlock. Results depend on the pavers’ age, condition, staining and previous coatings.

Drying time depends on the product, temperature and humidity. The surface may be ready for light foot traffic within approximately 2 hours, while vehicles may need to remain off it for 24 hours. We provide specific instructions after completing the project.
